Going Batty! {Free Craftivity}

My class is batty for... well... bats!

Ever since I started decorating for Halloween, one of my little boys has been begging me to make bats.  His idea spread like wildfire, and before I knew it, I had a whole class of firsties asking me everyday when we were making them!
I couldn't disappoint, so I pulled out an old bat pattern, spruced it up a bit, and threw together a few worksheets to go with it.  Here's one of the completed projects:
And another:
My batty display in the hallway:
The title says, "We're Batty About 1st Grade!"
Here's the other side:
If you have a mob of young ones begging you to make bats, or if you just feel like getting a little batty yourself, then be sure to pick up this little freebie from my TpT shop:
The download includes:
*bat pattern, pics, & directions
*five writing options
*"We're Batty About __" titles for:
Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th

Last but not least, here is a pic of a bat display I did a few years back:
Same batty concept! ;)

As always, please let me know what you think!  Especially if you grab a copy :)
I hope you love, love it!!

Yay! I'm the first to tell you that I grabbed this little cutie. I know my students will love it, just as much as they enjoy all your goodies. Right now, they're working on your fire safety book. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Thank you for sharing! You just saved me an hour on the computer; I have the bat puppets prepped, but needed a writing activity for the lesson.

My kindergartners are loving our study of owls and bats. Have fun with the rest of your week!

We made these today and used the writing page to write bat facts after reading non-fiction books about bats :) They came out SO cute- esp. the ones where the kids thought the ears were where the fangs go.... we have a few upside down bats! Thanks so much!

I got to do this activity when I had only 5 boys show up for a class on Friday :) (the rest were on a field trip). They loved it!

Instead of printing out the template, my EFL group practiced following my verbal instructions (with the help of my pictures of each stage drawn on the board). They folded the paper in half, then thirds, cut along the lines, drew dots to divide the page into thirds for the wing proportions, connected the dots with curved lines etc. It was a great way for them to practice their listening skills, and the bats turned out so cute! They were each individual as the kids all chose different coloured paper for the eyes.

Next week we will hang them from the ceiling, so I'll post some photos on my blog then.

Thanks again!!
