Happy Monday!  Whether you were back in school today, or still home on summer vacay, I hope it was a GREAT day!!  I am still in my bed… after 6pm… with a little munchkin asleep on my chest.  My hubby had off today and we've been super lazy, watching season two of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix all day.  Ah, summer :)

Anywho, I'm stopping by today to share a new product with you!  I received a TON of requests from sweet Cupcake followers, so I have *finally* added my non-editable behavior calendars WITH codes back into my shop!

Each non-editable calendar includes 10 codes at the bottom to make noting behavior quick and easy for both teachers and parents!  The calendars come in color and b&w for easy printing.  You can purchase them from my TpT shop if you're interested!

If you're looking for an editable version, they are available in my store as well!  Click on the covers to take you to the shop listings:

Whichever version you choose, these behavior calendars are really a wonderful communication tool.      At the end of the month, you can collect all behavior sheets and keep them in folders to refer to during conferences, etc.  I also use them to reward good behavior by giving a little prize to those kiddos who did not clip down all month.  I hope you find them as valuable as I do!!

Now it's time to get back to being lazy :)  Enjoy your night!!  XOXO!
Last summer I made a set of letter finds to use as review with my incoming first graders.  This summer, I made a set for numbers, too!

Fun with Numbers 0-20 {Printables} is a great way to practice/reinforce number recognition with your new bunch, while providing a way for you to see who might be struggling with the skill.  Pre-K kiddos and Kinders would love these printables, too!

If you're interested in this set for your little ones, stop by my TpT shop!

Today I am joining my girl Stephanie for her super fun Meet the Teacher Blogger linky!

That's me with my beautiful daughter, Summer!  Let's just pause for a minute and take a closer look at this beauty:

In. Love.  She was four days old in this picture… now she is six weeks!  Slow down time!!

Let's start with a quick mini bio!  I am a 20-something wife and new mommy.  I teach first grade in New Jersey and this will be my 7th year on the job!  I love to laugh 'til my stomach hurts and shop 'til my wallet hurts. ;)  Here's one of my favorite snapshots of me and my hubby:
Next, Stephanie prepared a little Q&A session!  Let's get to it!

Q: These are a few of my favorite things…
MAC makeup, sunshine, colorful pens, cupcakes, shopping, crafting, skinny jeans, flip flops, pedicures, TV, and sleep.

Q: If you weren’t a teacher, what would you want to be?
Maybe I would be a fashion designer or a stylist or an actress!

Q: Three little words that describe you.
Happy.  Perfectionist.  Creative.

Q: Finish this sentence, “___________________, said no teacher EVER!!”
"More paperwork, please!" said no teacher EVER!! :)

Q: It’s your birthday and you can invite anyone {dead or alive} to the party. Who are you inviting?
Justin Timberlake or Tom Hanks… totally different choices, I know.

Q: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would be the title?
365 Days of Summer.  It's all about her!!!

Q: You get to pick one superpower. What is it?
Wouldn't it be fun to read minds?!

Q: What’s your favorite quote or saying?
Tough!  I have books and post-its full of sayings/quotes that make me happy.  One of my favorites, from a movie I never saw:  "…and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches, we found that we were one tree and not two."  That's love!

Q: If you HAD to sing one song on American Idol, what would it be?
"This I Promise You" - NSYNC or
"All of Me" - John Legend

I get a lot of practice singing them both to Summer when she's fussy… she calms down and falls asleep.  Probably so she doesn't have to hear my singing voice. ;)

Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
NIGHT OWL!  Not a morning person AT ALL.

Q: What’s your favorite resource that you’ve created in your TPT shop?
This is a tough question, because I love ALL my craftivities and it's seriously hard to choose just one!  I'll go with Johnny Appleseed {Craftivities} since it's coming up on apple season!
I also really enjoy my starter kits because they are super helpful and my kids love to refer to them.  I chose my Reading Center Starter Kit! {Printables} just because!

Q: Share something we might not know about you!
I'm incredibly indecisive!  My husband and I are known to be STARVING yet not eat dinner for another two hours because we just can't decide what to make or order.

And that concludes this episode of Meet the Teacher Blogger!  I hope you enjoyed learning more about me :)  To meet more of your faves, and to link up yourself, click on the button below!
Today I'm joining some of my girlies for a back to school blog hop!

I'm sharing some of my favorite Back to School Must-Haves!  There are PLENTY more I'm sure, but I could only fit five into a nice and neat little graphic ;)

Clockwise from the top left…

A new set of colorful pens is a MUST for the start of a new year.  I happen to really like Ink Joy… the colors are vibrant and the ink flow is just right!

Your shoe choice can make or break your day-- a COMFY pair of shoes is a KEY ingredient for a happy teacher.  Tieks are my new shoe of choice.  They are a bit pricey, but they are well made, pretty, and comfortable!!

Each year I stock up on Wallflowers plug-ins from Bath & Body Works, both for my home AND classroom.  I tend to gravitate toward the fall scents… Pumpkin Apple is DELICIOUS!  I keep one plugged in at school, and everyone who comes to visit always compliments me on how yummy the room smells!

Our classrooms are basically like second homes, so it's important to make them a place we want to be!  I love to bring in FUN and COLOR wherever I can.  This year I'm adding some lantern string lights to my decor!

Germs run rampant in schools, so hand sanitizer is another necessity.  I stock up on the PocketBac sanitizers from Bath & Body Works.  I keep them everywhere: in my purse, in my lunch bag, on my key ring… Yes, I'm a germaphobe!  :)

Keep hopping along to see what other tips and tricks my friends have in store for you!

Are you ready for the new school year?  I meet my new little ones a month from tomorrow--yikes!-- and I know many of you will meet yours much sooner than that!  With the start of a new year comes A LOT of preparation, and if you're anything like me, a big hit on the old wallet.  Wouldn't it be nice to save a little bit on some of our back to school purchases?? Luckily, TpT is coming to the rescue by throwing a huge SALE!

On August 4th and 5th, my entire shop will be 20% off… and you can save an additional 10% by entering the code BTS14 at checkout.  That's a discount of 28%… pretty sweet! :)

And, plenty more!  HAPPY Shopping!!!
Cupcake is synonymous with crafting… at least over in these parts!  So when Michaels contacted me to help promote their #Create2Educate #sweepstakes, I shouted typed YES!   Plus, it gave me a good excuse to *finally* work on updating a project that kept getting overlooked!
Have you heard of Secret Star?  I've talked about it briefly on the blog before, but here is a refresher!  Secret Star is a classroom management tool that works WONDERS on hallway behavior, assembly behavior, teacher talking to the Principal by the door behavior… you get the idea!
Here's how it works:  By the door, I keep the above display, which includes a framed "Are you the Secret Star?" sign, a Secret Star Students jar, and a Secret Starbursts jar.  Whenever I need a quiet and well-behaved class, I tell my kiddos I'm looking for the Secret Star and I'll take a token from the Secret Star Students jar.  My tokens have student numbers on them, but you could use names, too.
Once I have a student picked, I will nonchalantly observe him or her as we walk through the hall {or sit in an assembly, or…}  But SHHH!  It's a secret!  No one knows who I'm looking at… and so they ALL behave!  Why?  Because they want a Secret Starburst, of course!
If the Secret Star happens to misbehave, I don't ever tell anyone WHO it was… I simply say something like, "Sadly, my Secret Star ran all the way to lunch… better luck next time!"  And then *I* eat a Starburst and my kiddos go bananas.  Hehe

I'm telling you, this trick really works!  My firsties never let me forget to choose a Secret Star.  Ever.  They even ask if I'll pick one for nontypical Secret Star events… and sometimes I will, because I'm cool like that ;)

If you want to make your own Secret Star display, you'll need:
*a decorative 5x7" picture frame
*two plastic paint cans {or any type of jars/containers}
*enough 1.5" round wooden tokens for your class list
*a big bag of Starbursts
*and THIS FREEBIE, which includes the sign, labels, and tiny numbers

Putting it all together is simple!  I used a 1" circle punch to cut the little numbers, then Mod Podged them onto the tokens {or rather, I am going to because I can't find my Mod Podge anywhere!}.  You could also just use paint markers or Sharpies to writes names/numbers. Or, here is an alternative to the tokens:
Popsicle sticks!  Write names or numbers on the sticks, then decorate with two colors of  Washi Tape.  Leave them all facing one way {for example, all orange-side-up}.  Then after you pick a stick for Secret Star, flip it so the pink {or whatever color} side shows up.  This way, you'll know that you chose that student recently.

Well, I hope you LOOOVE this idea!  I'd love to read your thoughts and other management ideas in the comments below!

And now...
